Our library has been home to groups of moms last week, moms who were busy typing children's stories and poems into our latest anthology of student writing. Yui Nakayama's colorful illustration was chosen for this year's cover. The judges love way she captures the international essence of our school for this, our first, multi-lingual edition.
The titles have been announced. The 3rd and 4th graders are beginning to read these books and will be facing the challenge of reading to remember. We'll have some practice battles, just sparring really, to remind them of the fitness level they'll need in order to go all the way with this one. May the most dedicated readers meet with success. I'm feeling very fortunate this week. Our library has just received an extensive collection of books illustrated by Axel Scheffler. What makes these particular copies so very special is that they' re printed in many languages other than English. Our collection of books in many languages is certainly growing, thanks to Mr Scheffler's thoughtfulness and generosity!
You've done it again! Congratulations kids, for writing another beautiful anthology of stories and poems. This, our 6th edition, was delivered to us mid-April. I saw students walking down the corridor after school but they didn't see me because they were busy reading their brand new We Are Writers books instead. Be careful and watch where you're going, even if you're reading the Best Book Ever.
Thanks Olav for our bright cover designs, and thanks again to Mrs Aggarwal, Mrs Stephenson, Mrs Chantal, Mrs Blach and Mrs Hoffman for your help with the typing.
